Harrison Hot Springs Community In A Nutshell

By Rosella Campbell

The rapid growth in urbanization has resulted to the devastation of the once natural rustic environments of most towns. The Harrison Hot Springs community stands out as an exception from most towns and it has the ability to offer a touch that is rural and decongested and also beautiful natural panorama. Below, we take an overlook of this rural village.

This small community has been in existence acting as a resort village for a time period beginning about 1886. The hoteliers exploited this place and it was incorporated on the year 1949. The hot springs, which are also its namesake, acts as the main tourist attraction drawing people to relish themselves in the village spa resort. A series of hot springs characterizes the village and the content of sulfur goes on decreasing as you move northwards.

It has been noted by some geologists that there is an unstable rock above the northern end of the large fresh water Harrison Lake. The rock is predicted to collapse in the lake and generate a very big wave that might cause destruction on the Harrison Hot Springs town which is located at the south end. The time for this is unknown but definitely not in near future and geological activities at the long run may rectify this.

This town has seen a steady population growth over the past couple of years. The main economic activity has been mainly tourism that results from the presence of the springs. About more than half of the working population gets employed in the services industries while the rest getting work in the government, retail, manufacturing and construction as well as other negligible activities on other fields. There is no existence of manufacturing industries along the lake but rather the normal hot water jets.

Following an initiative of (Ret) Andy Naismith after World War 2, the corporation of this community got incorporated to as a municipality. The mayor and some four other councilors preside over the community administration. Its representation is done at the Canadian House of Commons at its federal position.

Coupled with its close proximity to Vancouver and Seattle, Harrison becomes an ideal all year round retreat. It offers a myriad of activities that ranges from fishing and boating to skiing, hiking and exploration of this rustic countryside. Rather than that, some few places are able to boast of a four golf courses that are within a fifteen minutes drive.

The resorts have fine rooms and beds with the hot pools making them more fantastic. The workers are professional with friendly and helpful attributes. The meals are wonderful and the prices are very reasonable. The gardens and landscapes offer nice sceneries to the surroundings.

Ensure you pay a visit to this rustic setting in one of your vacations and it is a bet that you will for sure enjoy every moment. Tag along with your friends in order to enhance the fun and adventure through skiing, exploration and camping among other nerve-racking activities.
