How Web Design Companies Assist Nonprofits

By Arthur Williams

If you're starting a nonprofit, there are many areas that you must cover beforehand. Everything from the hiring process to the development of a website must be taken into account. When it comes to the former, a web design company will be able to provide you with the help that you need. For those that would like to know what goes into crafting the perfect site for a nonprofit organization, the following advice is worth heeding.

One of the things that a nonprofit should know, according to names such as Lounge Lizard, is that branding goes a long way. A web design company makes it a point to ensure that the right colors, font styles, and the like are seen on a site. Would a brand like Target, for instance, be as iconic if it didn't have the red target design associated with it? Branding is one of the many important pieces that fit perfectly into the larger website development puzzle.

Next, it's important for information to be easily found. Every nonprofit organization has a reason for existing, so why not make said information as clear as day on your site? By doing so, people will be better able to understand what you're trying to accomplish. From there, they can determine if they'd like to get involved as well. In the information age we live in today, making it easily accessible is perhaps the most vital step that can be taken.

What about mobile-friendliness, which is one of the most important aspects of designing a website? Nonprofits are learned about on a number of devices, but smartphones are becoming increasingly popular in this respect. People are on the move more than ever these days, so it's natural for them to use their phones to go online. They may learn about nonprofits in the process, meaning that building for mobile devices is that much more important.

A nonprofit won't be nearly as effective, though, unless it has a call to action in place. This goes for many businesses, but nonprofits especially need CTAs so that they can get people together to help raise money and make a difference. A CTA could be something as simple as a link directing someone to a Contact Us form, meaning that there may not be much work to be done. With that said, this is still an element that must be present.
