How To Create Decorative Seasonal Flags

By Arline Bradley

If you want to do something new, then try making seasonal flags out of your own hands. This can either be a personal or a community project. However, regardless of your reason for having this activity in mind, let no stop you from being creative from time to time. Provide yourself with the opportunity to shine and simply follow the steps written below.

The first step in this process is for you to find the fabric that is most appropriate for the project. If you want your decorative seasonal flags to last for a very long time, then you would need to look for a material that has a high level of durability. Woven polyester can be one of your choices.

Second, you would have to be very specific on the dimensions of your flags. If you want all of your neighbors to see them, then you can go for those large ones. If you desire to have items that you would be able to decorate during family gatherings alone, then opt for a smaller size for these things.

Third, be ready to cut the clothing material into pieces. If you already have sharp scissors in your household, then the better. If you have accidentally acquired more fabric than you intend to use, then do not be afraid to ask for the assistance of your loved ones.

See to it that you would be able to provide an allowance for all of your flags as well. Any measurement would do as long as it does not go beyond two inches. It would have to be reflected in every corner of the material too so that the finished products would all intact.

As to how you would be stitching the seams, you would just have to work on coming up with a straight line. The line would also need to be narrow so that it would not be so visible on the finished product. Simply do this step in a clean manner as much as possible for people to completely appreciate your hand made items.

Once everything has already been settled with the seams of your material, then you would have to let your creative juices start flowing. You will need to use your artistic eye when it comes to choosing among the fabric paints that you would be able to find in a small or large hardware store. You will also have to welcome yourself to the world of stenciling.

As for your additional tips, you are recommended to use a bar soap in making some lines on the cloth. The lines would serve as your guide when you already need to cut the whole material into pieces. You may use a chalk for this step but the lines made by this item are rougher than the lines that would come from the product being recommended to you.

As you can see, there are only a few steps needed for this creative process. Thus, you must not hesitate to do the project in the comforts of your home. Be an artist once and a while.
