Getting Back To Basics - Email Marketing Tips And Tricks

By Jonas Varig

One of the easiest ways to make money online is to market directly to the prospects who have signed up to get your emails, a fact you are likely aware of. This sort of direct selling via email is called Email Marketing.

It is a technique by which every successful Internet Marketer swears. The importance of email marketing is something you'll see discussed across many, many IM forums and thousands of posts and threads. These messages are usually about the newest and most impressive super-secret tactic to earn money. The fact is that if you really want to use this strategy to make money, then you need to strip it down to basics.

Always remember that the only email address you are going to get, at least in the beginning, is the address that someone thinks you should have. A lot of people will opt-in to an email list with a special email that has been made for that reason alone. What you have to do is impress them with your messages so that they'll want to use their "real" address to sign up. It can be annoying because your list server really can't tell which address is a primary one and which isn't, even if you'd love to have a list that is composed mainly of principle addresses.

Don't over mail to your list. There are some who insist that you need to send out multiple emails a week. Every two or three days, you need to send out an article to your subscribers for them to read. This is not always good advice. You know your list. The promotions you have sent - you should remember them all. This is your personal audience and list. Cater to their wants and needs. If your list is composed primarily of busy professionals, you don't want to bombard them with emails all the time.

Your list should not receive too many emails. People that have done this for quite a while recommend sending several emails weekly. Some will say not to let more than two or three days go by without sending out at least an article. This is not always good advice. Since it is your list, you ought to know what is best to do. The promotions you have sent - you should remember them all. It is your audience. Cater to their wants and needs. It is probably a very bad idea to bombard your list with emails, especially if your email list is comprised of busy professionals that do not have the time. Whenever things start to get overwhelming, getting back to basics is a nice idea. This is true no matter what it is that you are trying to do. Build a solid foundation that you can return to over and over again because you know it will serve you well. The information in this article is just an opening. When you are working and gaining skills and also making oversights (and correcting them), you'll be putting together a strong foundation of basics that you can put to use whenever you need to.
