Go Where The Customers Are: Social Media Marketing Tips

By Nova Elton

Social media for personal use and social media for your business are two different worlds. If you are used to using these sites for your own personal satisfaction then you are ahead of the game in understanding, but you will still need the advice of this article to show you how you can best market your business through them.

Monitor your competitors on social media sites. Spend a little time looking at what your top five competitors are doing out there in the social media world. Look at which social sites they are most active on, what kind of content they are publish, how many fans they have and how they promote their site and what they have to offer.

Start a conversation with your customers. What a lot of companies don't realize is that after a customer is done giving feedback, they are actually trying to communicate. Respond to any of your customers' reviews and have a conversation with them. Be excited to learn about their needs, expectations, and how you can make your company even better.

When working with social media marketing, you should always remember that you are speaking to individual people, and not the masses. The tone of your postings should be directed towards personal level for maximum success. It takes some practice to develop the right voice, but over time and with practice you will be able to communicate effectively.

Relax, it is just an online conversation. Email used to scare the pants off of companies who did not understand the good, the bad, and the ugly of the whole thing. Now it is the go-to communication channel. Social media is the new channel, and all you need to do is sit down and talk to your customers. It is what they want and what you need. If you are using social media to promote your product and you have written a blog post, have it posted to your Facebook page as well. This way, everyone that is on your friends list has access to your blog post. The same holds true for other social network sites.

Take the initiative to follow your customers and reach out to them away from social media. If your customers have a blog and are posting about your company, engage with them and interact on their blog. Link to their content on your social media pages and this will encourage more people to follow you from the bloggers fan base.

Set up a Twitter account to automatically send out each of your blog updates. You may also choose a few bloggers that can post high-quality content and updates that include links to their written posts. The people who follow you will appreciate your efforts to bring them content they enjoy, and the bloggers you choose certainly won't mind the increased exposure.

In this article, we have discussed the importance of time management when marketing within the world of social media. We have also provided some beneficial time saving tips.
