ACM: Where It Came From And Where It's Headed

By Bob Oliver

American Casting & Manufacturing has rich history to it. It's easy to see why, as it's one of the longest-standing companies that manufacture and provide security seals. These items are necessary for businesses that transport products of high value. Where did this specific company come from, though? What are its plans after being in business for so long? Here is what you should know.

In 1916, American Casting & Manufacturing was incorporated by a pair of brothers: Henry L.C. Wenk Jr. and Norman B. Wenk. Their goal, according to Norman, was to "meet the requirements of a growing construction economy," which was starting to gain ground in the 20th century. From there, the company in question found itself providing a number of products. Not only did they manufacture seals, as mentioned earlier, but castings and stampings, just to name a few.

ACM wasn't without its transitions, however, especially with its movement between different offices. Before the company stationed itself in Plainview, with a large facility to match, it operated out of Brooklyn. As the company grew, it became apparent that additional space was needed, which is when plans were made to shift their focus to a bigger establishment. This brought them to Plainview, which ACM operates out of to this day.

ACM always had the goal of expanding upon security seal technology, but this would have to be done by way of staying up-to-date with rules and regulation. Safety is paramount in any workplace; this is no exception with the company in question. Over the course of time, ACM has been able to meet standards related to food and beverage processing, transportation, and cash handling, just to name a few. By doing so, their ability to create high-quality products is maintained.

The history of ACM is nothing short of rich, but the future of the company is just as important, if not more so. The company intends on continually manufacturing the products they've become known for, security seals included. For this to be done, however, the company must build and evolve in a number of ways. This can be done by training new employees on such topics as safety and manufacturing. Additionally, research must be invested in so that seals become better. The moving parts of ACM are numerous, each with its own level of importance.
