Article Marketing Is Still Alive And Kicking

By Barbara Cox

If you have heard of article marketing, you are probably aware that it can be a great way to grow your business and website traffic. The hardest part is knowing here to get started when you are new to the process. Use the strategies offered here to help get you started.

Start a blog on your company website. This blog can and should contain useful information for people who would need your products or services. If the information you give is thought out and informative, they will come back to your site again and again to see what else you have written.

Get rid of your word counting software. Focus your writing on thorough explanations and information and including only the content you find the most important. If your article is longer or shorter than you originally intended, that is allowable. Keep content heavy, and your word count will not matter as much.

Consider paying others to do your article marketing once you're off to a good start. This makes it possible to market in volume. Services like Amazon Mechanical Turk make it easy to commission thousands of high quality articles and have them done within a matter of days. Just remember to pre-qualify your workers, or else you'll be drowned in spam.

Avoid using "marketing language" within the article itself. Articles should focus on some aspect of your market in general rather than directly pitching a product or service. The place to get your marketing in is in your short call to action at the end of the article. If the content of the main article is congruent with the call to action, the reader is more likely to buy.

Be a poster child for frequency. Post new articles as often as you can. This is the fastest and easiest way to develop new readers, and get search engines and article databases to focus on you. The more you update with new information, the more your articles will appear, enticing new readers.

Make use of your author resource box or make use of the end of your article for links back to your site. These areas are where you need to focus on self-promotion. Try to add at least 1 to 2 links in these areas. They provide a "call to action" for your readers to find more information on your site.

In article marketing, the "call to action" is vital. You should include calls to action in every article you create. The term is grandiose, but the idea is simple: Your article needs a hook that urges readers to participate in some way. The classic example is urging your readers to register at a website, but even pointing them towards another article and asking them to read it is a call to action.

Including pictures or images with your article is a great way to attract more attention. Readers love to have a visual accompaniment to the text they are reading. Be sure that the image you are using is one that you have permission to use, however, and host your images on your own account instead of hotlinking.

In conclusion, suitability is important. It is necessary to follow their guidelines strictly. You must be creative while meeting the needs of the magazine. The closer you match their interests, there is a better possibility for an editor to accept your proposal. Do your best to meet these requirements and do not give up if you are not published right away.
